This is the landing site near our fifth weather station. Chris, our pilot, circled our desired landing spot a couple times before making a daring landing amongst the basalt columns. First he set the sling holding the weather station gear down close to where we would set up the station. Then he found a patch of snow that was about 2/3 the size of the skids and was contiguous with the rock around it and he set the helo down on it. Then he lifted off again and drifted to the left to look at his tracks. When he could see that the snow would be stable, he set the helo down again and took it to low power. We got out and scurried around the front of the helo without climbing the ridge that was to the right of the helo not far from the turning blades. The helo then left and we set up the station.
