014C16Camp

We landed in the middle of C16 and set up our camp. We took one Scott tent (the yellow pyramid) and two mountain tents. The snow wall is to protect the mountain tents from the wind. The snow is great for cutting blocks. That is Erebus in the distance again. To give you a sense of scale and perspective, Erebus is a 12,400 foot tall mountain (compared to Mt. Whitney the tallest mountain in CONUS: 14,505 feet), I am about 40 feet above sea level on the surface of the iceberg, and the iceberg extends all the way from where I am to the base of the mountain. The iceberg also extends behind me for the same distance. And this is the smallest iceberg we're studying.
